  • Reflecting ....

My sister in law Laura had emailed me today asking for a video that I had posted sometime ago on infant breastcrawl.   She wanted to know if I could send her the link for a friend who was interested.

So that got me into my archives, and I spent the better part of an hour reading through my 2007 blog postings.  Wow.   Talk about a trip through memory lane!   Read about Braden's surgery, and Martin's grad, and quite a few birth and breastfeeding related posts,  other family events........  I loved doing that (yes, I did find the video blog) - but I came away from it a bit sad.

You see, back when I joined xanga in 2007, I did so at the urging of my sister Leona, who had a blog too.  My other sister Maria did too ...... and many other people I knew in my church community were blogging as well.   So many of them have abandoned blogging in favour of facebook.     I'm missing alot of my friends from back then!  Don't get me wrong ....... I've made some GREAT friends here in the xanga community and I'm grateful for them dropping in and leaving comments once in awhile.    Some of them have been especially encouraging in my walk with the Lord.    Some of those I know personally, still drop by --- Leona, Chris, Marie, Audrey, Lisa, Michelle ....... THANK YOU for being readers of my blog!  (even if you do often just lurk!)  Please leave comments more often?  hee hee

But I'm missing the presence of Tania, Rose, Melanie, Brenda, Ang, Kath, Jackie, Annette, Tanya, Gwenda, Trixie, Jeanette, Michelle ........and others who left comments less frequently but still dropped by.     I'm hoping this blog might encourage these moms to pick up the blogging fever again and join the xanga community!  I miss you guys and your posts about your families and kids ......... come back????

Hey Nicole I always read your blog but I am not much of a commenter, but I do enjoy it

When I came to Xanga 2+ years ago I was the 4th of 4 friends who were all at one church (we were in a small group study at the time) and had all come onto on Xanga. (I'd been thinking of blogging for a while before that time, but they pushed me over the edge, so to speak.) Due to various life circumstances, I'm now the one who blogs most. We once we all at one church, now we're at 3 different ones. So that's a little sad. Though we all live in the same town we don't all get together very often at all.

Like you, I am thankful for new friends like YOU whom I've met on Xanga.

I have a facebook but have never really done anything with it.

I've looked back through some of my archives and that's a mixed bag since there have been a lot of joys but also a lot of sorrows...But through it all God is the same yesterday, today and forever!

Well, I came here to lurk, but I guess I better comment now! Do you see when people look but don't leave comments?  My blogger blog doesn't do that...

I love reading your blogs .... but will admit to not always commenting because I don't have much to say - I will try to remember to say something next time - I'm with you on writing and then not hearing from others, it kind of is deflating. I don't always know what to write in mine - not much exciting happens with me. I will try to think of something! Take care, and keep writing!

  • AudreyUnaL

I reread that and realized that me not having much to say is kind of an oxymoron eh?! LOL!

You always have these interesting posts about babies, breastfeeding etc., and your family! I sometimes comment though not always b/c I feel like I'm always putting my 2 cents in and I feel I shouldn't always be doing that! hehe. Do you get my blog? Last month I pretty much decided to quit writing...even thoughsometimes I feel like writing something, I also feel like it wouln't be 'interesting' to anyone else, so I think 'whats the point?' lol. You always have interesting topics to write about but I don't always (besides my kids -- but again, maybe no one cares that my kid is potty training??) Know what I mean? Another thing is time...spend time on FB, Craigslist, online banking, hotmail...and by that time I'm done for the day!

    Here is my comment.   :o)

I do regularly check your blog, although I don't always comment. Sometimes I have nothing to say!  lol   I should blog more often, but we now have a laptop upstairs, and I download all my photos onto the one downstairs in the cold, lonely laundry room area. So I haven't downloaded my photos in a while and haven't updated my blog either! But I do like to keep it somewhat up to date for my family far away...

@rrlasmom - hee hee - yup, it's called "footprints" - which I find useful, because I can block certain xanga users if I have to, which I have done in the past.

@Momofived - @naphtali_deer - @Tupperwaregal - @LeonaHuttema - @rrlasmom - @AudreyUnaL - @EmilyandMindert - @stoepc -  THANK YOU for stopping by and reading my blogs - it gives me encouragement to keep going. (did you see my latest?)        Please don't feel like you HAVE to commment when you come by --- but I'll admit to liking it!    It's always nice to hear of others opinions and thoughts on whatever I'm writing about .......

and I encourage you all to keep blogging!  Your stuff isn't boring, or useless ....and stuff about kids is always fun!   Try branching out a bit and blogging about theological stuff,   or  other things that matter to you (like education,  health care,  church issues whatever) .....it keeps it interesting!

Look for another birth blog soon .........

Nicole, I burst out laughing at your last paragraph.  I have taken up blogging but more discreetly so now you know.  LOL  I don't read very often or as often as I used to.  But sometimes I do click into your xanga via Facebook.

I never comment cuz I don't have anything interesting to add, but I faithfully check out your blog at least once a week.  I find it very interesting.  I don't have a blog myself for you to check out, since I'm too busy reading everyone else's and at the moment we're waaaay too busy to keep anyone updated on what's happening here.  We lifted our house in April and put a full basement underneath.  Currently, I have no running water or sewer, so it's like camping in our own house, but it sure makes everything twice as much work!  Keep up the blogging and don't get discouraged!
